Simplified employer certificate

On October 1, 2025, a new law on unemployment benefits will come into effect. A positive change for employers is that the need for lengthy and complicated hourly and wage reports will be eliminated, as the unemployment insurance fund (a-kassa) will be able to retrieve income data directly from the Swedish Tax Agency. The information that employers will still need to certify relates to the employment itself.

These rules will take effect on October 1, 2025.

Information the employer needs to certify

Employer’s name and organization number
Employment period
Reason for termination of employment
Offer of continued employment
Information about continued employment and scope
Information about leave of absence
Agreement on severance pay
