Application and reporting
Here we explain how to apply for benefits, submit time reports, activity reports, and other important information. You will also learn what applies if you have worked abroad, found a new job, lack a BankID, or need to make changes. The sooner we receive the correct information, the sooner we can make a decision.
Transition period – two legal frameworks
During a transition period, two legal frameworks for a-kassa will apply simultaneously. Anyone with an ongoing benefit period as of 30 September 2025 will continue under the old regulations. All decisions made from 1 October 2025 onward will be subject to the new Unemployment Insurance Act.
Old rules – until 30 September 2025
If you have an already approved and ongoing benefit period as of 30 September 2025, the old Unemployment Insurance Act will continue to apply.
New rules – from 1 October 2025
For everyone who receives a decision on benefits on or after 1 October, the new Unemployment Insurance Act will apply.
Submit your time report every week
The time report in Mina sidor is your formal application for benefits. You must submit the time report for the previous week no later than Monday evening. The benefits will then be paid out on Thursday.

Submit your activity report to Arbetsförmedlingen no later than the 14th of each month
At the beginning of each month, you report to Arbetsförmedlingen which jobs you have applied for and what else you have done to find new work.
How to actively search for jobs
To be eligible for benefits from the a-kassa, you must be in Sweden, unemployed, and actively seeking work. This means regularly applying for jobs and following Arbetsförmedlingen’s instructions. It is a basic requirement of the unemployment insurance and important to ensure that your benefits are not affected.
