No alternative to CSN
To be eligible for benefits, you must be able to seek and accept full-time work, and therefore, in most cases, you are not allowed to study. Benefits cannot be used as an alternative to CSN, but in some cases, we may approve combining studies with benefits.
20 weeks part-time
You may study with benefits for a maximum of 20 weeks during a benefit period. The following conditions must be met:
The study pace is no more than 50 percent of full-time
You did not leave your job in order to study
The education does not prevent you from seeking and accepting full-time work
You are not receiving any form of student aid
If the study pace is flexible or unclear, you must submit a certificate from the school showing course dates and details. It does not matter whether the course is held during the day, evening, or weekends.
What counts as part-time?
Maximum 50% pace at university or college
Maximum 10 credits per week at Komvux, equivalent to 200 credits per term
Other studies: Attach a course description with your application so we can assess the study pace
15 days full-time
You may receive benefits during a short full-time course, up to 15 days, if the purpose is to:
Provide orientation about different professions and educational paths, or
Support the transition from one job to another
Wait for our decision before starting studies
Once we have reviewed your application to study, you will receive a written decision
Do not begin your studies before the decision is made. If your application is denied, you will be required to repay benefits
If we deny your application, your right to benefits ends on the date the studies begin. If you choose not to study, you must notify both us and the education provider to maintain your right to benefits.
Report as unemployed
Once your application is approved, you may study without deductions from your benefits. In Mina sidor, report Unemployed even on the days you are studying.
