Participating in a labour market program?
If you are participating in a labour market program and are entitled to, or would have been entitled to, unemployment benefits, you may receive activity support. The amount of activity support can be equal to the benefits you would have received from the unemployment insurance fund, i.e., a maximum of 1,200 or 1,000 kronor per day before tax.
Days are deducted from the benefit period
You have a total of 300 benefit days in a benefit period from the unemployment insurance fund. The days you receive activity support are deducted from your benefit period, but only after the entire period of activity support has ended. Försäkringskassan then reports back to us how many days you received in the program.
Who decides the benefit amount?
When Arbetsförmedlingen decides that you will participate in a labour market program, we at the unemployment insurance fund are informed.
We then notify Försäkringskassan of the daily benefit amount you are entitled to. This amount is what you would have received if you were unemployed with benefits. You can see it in Mina sidor.
Försäkringskassan may then determine a different benefit level. Contact them if you are dissatisfied with their decision.
Do you have an ongoing benefit period from the unemployment insurance fund?
If you are receiving benefits, the amount has already been calculated and we send the information to Försäkringskassan.
Have you not received benefits from the unemployment insurance fund?
If you are not unemployed, you will receive a message in Mina sidor at akademikernasakassa.se before the program starts, asking you to submit an employer certificate showing how much you have worked in the past year. We then calculate your daily benefit and send the information to Försäkringskassan.
Activity support is paid once a month
When receiving unemployment benefits, you can get paid weekly by submitting your time report. For activity support, Försäkringskassan makes monthly payments in arrears. To receive activity support, you must submit an attendance report to Försäkringskassan.
What about additional income insurance?
When it comes to additional income insurance, it is not always possible to receive compensation while participating in a labour market program and receiving activity support. Check the terms of your specific income insurance.
Stay a member of the unemployment insurance fund
Remain a member of the unemployment insurance fund while participating in a program. If you choose to leave, your benefit will be reduced.
What happens if you decline to participate in a program?
If you are receiving benefits and decline to participate in a labour market program – such as “Rusta och matcha” – it is considered that you are prolonging your unemployment and you may be disqualified from receiving benefits.
First time: disqualified for 5 days
Second time: disqualified for 10 benefit days
Third time: disqualified for 45 benefit days
Fourth time: you lose the right to unemployment benefits entirely
To regain the right to benefits, you must meet a new work requirement.
Can I withdraw from the program?
If you withdraw from the program, you will be disqualified from benefits for 45 days. This is treated as if you resigned from a job. Our recommendation is to continue, as withdrawing can have serious financial consequences. Contact Försäkringskassan if you have questions about when the first payment can be made.
