Time report
To receive your benefits, you need to submit a time report in Mina sidor after the week has passed – meaning no earlier than Sunday evening. You can report time that is up to nine months old. We pay out benefits on Thursdays, and to be included in the same week’s payment, your time report must be submitted no later than Monday evening. Even if we have not yet made a decision about your right to benefits, it is important that you submit your time reports. This allows us to pay out the money as soon as the decision is made.
Transition period – Two legal frameworks
During a transition period, two legal frameworks for unemployment benefits will apply simultaneously. Anyone with an ongoing benefit period as of 30 September 2025 will continue under the old law, while all decisions made from 1 October 2025 onward will be subject to the new Unemployment Insurance Ac
Help – I accidentally filled in the time report incorrectly!
No worries. If you’ve made a mistake in your time report, you can easily correct it by submitting a new report for the same week. You’ll also be asked to explain what went wrong and why.
If you’ve received too much in benefits, you may need to pay it back. If you’ve received too little, we will pay out the missing amount.
The time report becomes a monthly application
If you have an ongoing benefit period on 30 September, you will continue to submit your time report weekly as usual. However, if your decision is made on or after 1 October, you will be covered by the new rules – weekly reporting will then be replaced by a Monthly Application. This means you will fill in your information once a month and receive your benefits on a monthly basis instead of weekly.
Remember to also report to Arbetsförmedlingen every month
At the beginning of each month, you must submit your activity report on Arbetsförmedlingen’s website. There, you report which jobs you have applied for and other activities you’ve done to find work. If the report is not submitted on time, we receive a message from Arbetsförmedlingen – and this may affect your benefits.

Submit your time report in Mina sidor
By Monday evening at the latest, fill in, sign, and submit your time report in Mina sidor. The benefits will then be paid out on Thursday.
Report your activities in the time report
-
When you select "Unemployed" on your time report, you confirm that you are available to the labor market – meaning that you are both able and willing to work and have nothing preventing you from doing so.
If you are fully unemployed for an entire week, click "Unemployed" and the whole week will be filled in automatically.
Benefits can be paid for up to five days per week.
-
You do not need to submit a time report to the unemployment insurance fund (a-kassa) when you are participating in a program through Arbetsförmedlingen and receiving benefits from Försäkringskassan.
If the program starts in the middle of a week, you should select “Cannot take work” on your time report for the days that Försäkringskassan pays out benefits.
-
Days are deducted from the suspension period when you submit your time report. The days are counted if you are unemployed or work at least three hours.
-
If you are on parental leave, select the box “Sick leave/VAB/Parental benefit” and then apply for benefits from Försäkringskassan.
If you are on parental leave on a Saturday or Sunday, this does not affect your unemployment benefits. However, we receive a notification from Försäkringskassan that you have received both parental benefit and unemployment benefits, and we will check to ensure that you have not received benefits for the same period.
-
Select the box “Sick leave/VAB/Parental benefit” and report your illness and apply for benefits through Försäkringskassan.
If you receive sickness or activity compensation, special rules apply. Please contact us.
-
If you are unemployed, you should select the box “Cannot take work” if you are unable or unwilling to work – for example, if you are going away on a trip.
-
Being a legal guardian, contact person, or part of a foster family does not affect your right to unemployment benefits. Since these roles are not salaried and do not interfere with your ability to seek or accept work, they should not be included in your time report.
However, if the assignment is so extensive that you do not have time to look for or accept work, you are not entitled to benefits.
-
Having a hobby such as crafts, artistic activities, or other leisure pursuits generally does not affect your right to unemployment benefits.
However, if you produce items and sell them, or if you make deductions in your tax return for materials and expenses related to the activity, it is considered a business activity and you are not entitled to benefits.
Exception: If you have received a decision from us stating that the hobby is considered a secondary activity (bisyssla).
-
Internships should be reported as “Cannot take work” on your time report. It’s important that you contact us when you are offered an internship, as there can be different interpretations of what an internship actually involves.
Is it a form of education, or is it working for free to get a foot in the door? Call us at 08-412 33 00 or send a message via Mina sidor, and we’ll help clarify how it may affect your benefits.
-
If you are going on vacation, visiting family, studying abroad, etc., you cannot receive unemployment benefits. In that case, you must select “Cannot take work” on your time report.
If you have been fully unemployed for at least 4 weeks, you may in some cases apply to take your unemployment benefits with you to look for work within the EU/EEA.
If you are going abroad for a job interview, you can apply for approval before you travel. Upload a certificate in Mina sidor and contact us.
Report your work in the time report
-
All hours you work must be reported, regardless of whether they are on weekdays or weekends. Night shifts and on-call duty also count, including sleep shifts.
-
When your working hours are set as a percentage, enter the percentage in the field “Scope of employment.” It doesn’t matter whether the work is on a weekday or weekend. Night shifts and on-call duty must also be reported, including sleep shifts.
If you have fixed working hours, you should report the scope of employment – not the number of hours – to avoid reporting the same time twice.
If you work extra hours, report both the scope of employment and the additional hours in your time report.
If you have a varying schedule – for example, working full-time one week and being off the next – you should still report your scope of employment each week. In this case, it would be 50 percent.
Are you on sick leave or parental leave from a job with a monthly salary? Report the scope of employment and also check the box for sickness benefit or parental benefit. Contact us if this does not match your schedule correctly.
-
If you want to invoice without having your own business, you can use an umbrella company such as Frilans Finans, Cool Company, Contigo, or Adamo. These services allow you to invoice for your work as if you were employed, without needing to start your own company.
When using these services, it’s important that we review your situation together to determine whether your work should be classified as self-employment (as a business owner) or if you should be considered employed by the client. Please contact us to ensure everything is handled correctly from the start.
-
If you change the scope of your employment in the middle of a week, you need to calculate how many hours you worked instead of entering a percentage.
For example, if you work 50 percent Monday through Wednesday and then 60 percent on Thursday and Friday, you would report 12 + 9.6 = 22 hours on your time report.
-
If you have paid vacation from a part-time job, you must report vacation time – you always check off full days or full weeks.
-
Night work and on-call duty must also be reported. It does not matter whether it takes place on a weekday or a weekend, or if it is a sleeping on-call shift. Enter the number of hours you work per 24-hour period. For example, if you work from 22:00 to 06:00 from Friday to Saturday, you should report 2 hours on Friday and 6 hours on Saturday.
-
If you take on assignments, we must first determine whether the way the work is taken and carried out most closely resembles employment or running a business
-
Voluntary work in a non-profit organization does not prevent you from receiving unemployment benefits. However, if your involvement prevents you from accepting work, you must report it on your time report for the relevant days. If you receive payment, you must report it as work.
-
For musicians, singers, and others in artistic professions, the hours worked must be reported on the time report.
How to calculate the number of hours
Divide the gross fee per week by 203 SEK. 203 SEK is a standardized hourly wage amount determined by the Swedish Unemployment Insurance Inspectorate.
If the calculated number of hours worked exceeds 40, the excess hours should be reported on the following week’s time report.
Example
During the same week, you receive a gross fee of 2,600 SEK for two performances.
2,600 / 203 SEK = 12.8 hours.
You report 13 hours on the time report for these two performances.
Always round to the nearest whole or half hour.
-
If you have a political position of trust for which you receive payment, you must report it as work on your time report.
If you receive a fixed remuneration for the assignment, it usually does not affect your right to benefits, but report it to us anyway to ensure everything is correct from the start.
-
Contact us if you have any board assignments so we can determine whether it affects your benefits. We need to know:
which board assignment(s) you have
the scope and any compensation
Occasional board assignments usually do not affect your right to benefits. Extensive board assignments that prevent you from seeking or accepting work may have an impact. Send us a message via 'Mina sidor' (My Pages).
