Conditions for secondary employment
For extra work to be considered secondary employment, the following conditions must be met:
You have had it alongside full-time employment* every month for at least six months prior to unemployment,
You have earned no more than 10,000 SEK per month from the secondary employment,
The secondary employment does not prevent you from accepting other jobs, and
You do not expand the secondary employment during the period of unemployment.
*If you have reduced your working hours under Section 3 of the Parental Leave Act, it is still considered full-time. The same applies if your actual weekly working hours have been up to five hours shorter than the normal full-time hours for the profession.
How to apply for secondary employment
Apply to have your secondary employment approved at the same time as you apply for unemployment compensation. Submit a certificate that verifies the scope of the work.
Decision for work per month
When we approve extra work as secondary employment, you receive a decision stating how much you are allowed to work and earn in your secondary employment.
Do not report income in the monthly application
You should not report income from approved secondary employment in the monthly application in Mina sidor. If the work is not approved as secondary employment, the full income from the job must be reported in the monthly application.
Not grounds for income requirement
Secondary employment is not included in the income requirement and therefore cannot serve as the basis for a new compensation period.
Change in approved secondary employment
If the working hours in your secondary employment increase, it will no longer be considered secondary employment. This means you must report the income in the monthly application, and your compensation will be reduced.
If the income from your secondary employment increases, you must report this in the monthly application — compensation will then be reduced by the excess amount. Contact us in that case!
Contact us if your secondary employment changes; it is not sufficient to simply start reporting the income in the monthly application.
