When participating in a labour market program, you receive compensation from Försäkringskassan, known as activity support. The unemployment fund calculates the compensation-based income, determines the compensation level, and automatically sends the information to Försäkringskassan. The maximum daily compensation is SEK 1,236, and the minimum amount for activity support is SEK 365 per day.
Days are deducted from the compensation period
Days with activity support are deducted from the compensation period with the unemployment fund once the entire period with activity support has been completed. This happens after Försäkringskassan has informed the unemployment fund how many days you received in the program.
Who decides on the compensation?
Arbetsförmedlingen makes the decision for someone to participate in a labour market policy program. Once the decision has been made, the unemployment fund receives the information.
The unemployment fund informs Försäkringskassan of the compensation-based income determined for the person who will receive activity support. It can be a maximum of SEK 34,000 per month.
Försäkringskassan then determines the compensation level. Contact them if you are dissatisfied with their level.
Do you have an ongoing compensation period from the unemployment fund?
For those receiving compensation from the unemployment fund, we have already calculated the income and send the information to Försäkringskassan.
Have you not received compensation from the unemployment fund?
If you have not received compensation from the unemployment fund before the start of the program, we at the unemployment fund will receive information from Arbetsförmedlingen about your participation. We will then collect income data from Skatteverket to calculate the compensation-based income. It can be a maximum of SEK 34,000 per month. Försäkringskassan then retrieves the information from us before paying out the activity support.
Activity support is paid once a month
Försäkringskassan pays out the compensation for activity support monthly in arrears. To receive activity support, you must complete an attendance report for Försäkringskassan.
What about income insurance?
When it comes to income insurance, it is not always possible to receive compensation while participating in a labour market policy program and receiving activity support. Check the terms of your specific income insurance.
Remain a member of the unemployment fund
Continue to be a member of the unemployment fund while participating in a program. If you choose to leave, your compensation will be reduced.
What happens if you decline to participate in a program?
If you receive compensation from the unemployment fund and decline to participate in a labour market policy program – for example, Rusta och matcha – you may be suspended from unemployment compensation, as this is considered to prolong your unemployment.
The first time results in a suspension of 5 compensation days,
The second time leads to a suspension of 10 compensation days,
The third time results in 45 compensation days.
If you decline a fourth time, your right to unemployment compensation ends.
To regain the right to unemployment compensation, you must meet a new income requirement.
Can I withdraw from the program?
If you withdraw from the program, you will be suspended from unemployment compensation for 45 days. Withdrawing is considered equivalent to resigning from a job. Our recommendation is to continue participating, as a withdrawal can lead to significant financial consequences.
