Apply for compensation
At Akademikernas a-kassa, we’re here for you from day one. Our team is committed to making sure you feel supported and informed, and we aim to deliver your compensation within a month — though sometimes it may take a little longer. With generous opening hours and short phone queues, reaching us is easy whenever you need help or have questions.
Five steps – how to apply
Get started with your compensation by following our 5 simple steps. The sooner we receive all the information, the sooner you’ll get your decision and your money.
-
1. Register with Arbetsförmedlingen
Register with Arbetsförmedlingen on the first day you are unemployed. You do this at arbetsformedlingen.se..
-
2. Log in and apply for compensation
Log in to Mina sidor on our website and submit your application. Once you provide your information, you’ll receive a personalized to-do list showing which details you need to complete. One of our case officers will then review your application, and if any information is missing, we’ll contact you.
-
3. Register your bank account
Register your bank account to have your compensation deposited directly into the account of your choice. This way, you avoid receiving a payment notice that costs money to redeem. You register your account with Swedbank’s account register.
-
4. Submit your monthly application
Submit your monthly application as soon as you have all your income details. The earliest you can receive your first payment is on the Thursday of the week following your compensation decision. Compensation is then paid every fourth Thursday of the month. Submit your monthly application no later than the 14th.
-
5. Submit your activity report to Arbetsförmedlingen
You must submit an activity report to Arbetsförmedlingen by the 14th of each month. This is done through their Mina sidor. Submitting the report on time and actively applying for a sufficient number of jobs are requirements for receiving compensation.
What have you done in the past year?
-
Employed
If you have been employed, we retrieve your income details from Skatteverket for your compensation.
-
Self-employed
There are several ways to calculate compensation, and we choose the option that is most beneficial for you.
-
Sick, on parental leave, or studying
If you have studied full-time, been ill, or on parental leave, the qualification period for compensation may be extended.

Apply easily online – and get help when you need it
With bank-id, you can manage your entire application digitally and upload your documents in Mina sidor. We know that general information isn’t always enough – but a phone call usually solves most things and can help you receive your compensation faster.
