Is it worth joining the unemployment insurance fund as a student? Yes – especially if you work part-time or have worked before starting your studies. That way, you can protect the income you've earned in case you become unemployed after graduation. Already a member? Stay with us! You’ll keep the insurance coverage you built up before starting your studies.
Unemployment fund for students
We are the unemployment fund for students at university or college Are you studying with the goal of earning at least 180 higher education credits? Then this is the fund for you.
It costs SEK 140
Membership costs SEK 140 per month – this is your insurance premium, and the same amount applies to everyone. If you become unemployed after graduation, you may be entitled to benefits from us.
Protect your income
By joining while studying, you protect your past income and build eligibility for income-based benefits faster after graduation. It gives you added security when entering the job market.
Why isn’t it free for students?
We’d love to offer free membership – but it’s not allowed. According to the law on unemployment funds, you must pay the fee for the insurance to be valid.
Luckily, it only costs SEK 140 per month – about the same as lunch in town. It’s a small investment for the security of having support if you’re without a job after your studies.
