General meeting
The highest decision-making body of the a-kassa is the general meeting. Through the general meeting, members have the opportunity to influence the organisation, including by appointing the board. Delegates to the meeting are appointed by the Saco unions, Vårdförbundet, and by directly affiliated members.
The general meeting appoints the board
The general meeting is responsible for key decisions, including appointing board members, deciding on the statutes, and setting the membership fee. The meeting must be held no later than 30 June each year, and information about it is published on akademikernasakassa.se. Motions must be submitted to the board no later than 31 March.
Members can nominate, vote, and be elected
To vote at the general meeting, you must be elected as a delegate, and delegates are elected for one year at a time. All members can be elected as delegates, and all members have the right to nominate and vote for delegates.

Topics addressed at the general meeting
The following matters are handled at the regular general meeting:
approval of the previous year’s income statement and balance sheet
decision on discharge from liability for board members
approval of the budget and membership fees for the coming year
election of board members and deputies
election of auditors and deputies
any other matters presented by the board or auditors, and matters raised by a member
Delegates are appointed by electoral districts, which correspond to the Saco unions, Vårdförbundet, and the directly affiliated district (i.e. those who are not members of any other electoral district).
When the directly affiliated district elects delegates, the a-kassa’s office organises the process at akademikernasakassa.se. There, directly affiliated members can be elected as delegates, nominate, and vote for delegates.
Nominations are open during the first half of March, and voting is open during the second half of March. Dates for nomination and voting are published on akademikernasakassa.se in February.
